Our critic infers that Christian Science does not provide...

Call-Leader

Our critic infers that Christian Science does not provide the solution for all problems, as alleged by the speaker, because, forsooth, the Bible itself has not offered such solution. It is without a doubt true that if the dear old book were rightly understood, its precepts would make possible such solution, and it is avowedly the purpose of the Christian Science text-book not to displace the Bible, but to explain its teachings in a spiritual light, making them practically applicable to-day as in Jesus' time. If the writer of this criticism of Christian Science has never attempted to solve vexing questions in accord with and by help of Christian Science. how can he judge of its practical utility along such lines? The Bible itself "will not be required by the perfect man," but until the most of us get a little nearer the perfect mark than we now are, the Bible will be needed as a guide-book, and we Christian Scientists find that its interpretation in the Christian Science text-book conduces to a nearer and more ready compliance with the precepts of God's Word.
