In loving gratitude to God, and to our dearly beloved...
In loving gratitude to God, and to our dearly beloved Leader. I gladly write my testimony. It is about four years since I came to Christian Science, and I wish to express my gratitude for the many blessings which it has brought to me and my family. We came to California from the East. hoping the climate would be a benefit to my husband's health, as we had tried all other means, but all failed to help him. We had been out here but a short time when we came to know of Cgristian Science, through a dear neighbor, who invited us to go to church with her it being Easter Sunday. I shall never forget that first Sunday in a Christian Science church. It meant so much to me that I knew I wanted to go again, and we have been going ever since. Then my husband took treatment, and he was wondrously healed after having suffered from poor health more than thirty years. If I had only this to be grateful for, it would be more than I could express in words, but Christian Science has been doing more and more for us each day, and I am striving harder each day for realization of the one Mind, the divine Principle of Christian Science. We are members of the local Christian Science church, also of The Mother Church, and our three youngest children attend the Christian Science Sunday School. For these sweet privileges I am very grateful.
We have had many proofs of healing through Christian Science or divine Love. Our little ones have made their own demonstrations many times. I have been healed of rheumatic trouble that now and then visited me for more than twenty years. It has never troubled me but once since coming to Christian Science, and then it was instantly over come. As I declared the truth, I knew that as God's child I need not have that dreadful pain, and I have never had a return of it. I also had a very beautiful demonstration of Truth's power at the birth of our youngest child. The next morning I was up early, took care of my baby and our little daughter, besides helping about the work. After the first week I did all of my work, everything there is to do for a family of six. This boy is a strong child, all health and happiness, and has never been sick one day of his life. I am more grateful for the spiritual uplifting than I can express, and for the moral healing and the sweet peace that has come to me,—this peace that passeth all human understanding, the peace that cometh from God, good.
I am deeply grateful for the happiness, the blessings, and joy that have come into my life all through the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our dear Leader. Before we studied it there was fear, worry, and sorrow. I am deeply grateful for what our text-book has done for me in opening the Bible. Together they are now my daily companions, with the other works by Mrs. Eddy. For all this and a great deal more I thank God. I am thankful for this ever-present help, this understanding of ommipresence and omnipotence.
