LETTERS TO OUR LEADER

[Christian Scientists will all rejoice when they read Lady Victoria Murray's letter, and recognize the triumph of faith and hope (spiritual understanding) over the human sense of sorrow: This faith is surely "the victory that overcometh the world," and that will finally overcome death itself.—Editor.]

Boston, Mass., Sept. 16, 1907.

My Dear Leader and Teacher:—Thank you for your beautiful message which you sent to our family. It brought joy and hope to our hearts, quickly dispelling the clouds of sense which tried to gather around. It is indeed good to know that Life never dies, and that nothing, not even that last enemy, death, can stop Christ's disciples from continuing to "live, love, and labor." Christian Science is helping me to "walk by faith, not by sight," and to fulfil Jesus' command, "Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment." I am watching and praying more earnestly than ever before to be "instant in season, out of season," to be a better transparency for Love to shine through, to be a more active witness to Christ's resurrection. Words seem so empty and it is so impossible to express my feelings to you in regard to father, for I and others are grateful for the good friend you have been to him. The change your teachings brought to his sense of life and happiness truly enabled him to rise somewhat to man's real and divine self, the son of God, and no one was or is more grateful for this than himself. He loved and still loves you very loyally and earnestly for it. I thank you for all the love and care you have always and in all ways bestowed on my family. I hope we shall each one prove worthy of it.
