It is with heartfelt thankfulness to God, to the great Wayshower, and to Mrs. Eddy, the perfectly attuned instrument through whom we have again caught the sound of the divine voice, that I send this expression of gratitude. It is five years since I first heard of Christian Science, which has led me out of bondage into the "glorious liberty of the children of God." I had been seriously ill with a very painful stomach trouble, for which an operation was advised; but as I would not consent to this, I was told that it would take a year of constant medical treatment to effect a cure. I continued this treatment for two months, with but slight improvement, then I became discouraged, for I feared that I must submit to the operation after all. It was at this time that I heard of Christian Science, and it seemed to be just what I had been waiting for. I asked for treatment, and in two days discarded a bandage which I had been wearing. After seven weeks' treatment I was perfectly healed, and have had no return of the trouble, although my physician, who was very kind and conscientious, said that my seeming cure would last but a few months. Through the study of Christian Science I have gained a more intelligent idea of God, and of man's relation to Him. To Christian Science I owe a debt of gratitude which can only be repaid by following the path marked out by our dear Leader.
