THE GREATEST COMMANDMENT IN THE LAW

Again, a new commandment I write unto you, ... because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.—I John, 2:8.

Although the world has had many forms of religion and worship, "Christendom," according to Mr. Gladstone, "is undeniably at this moment the prime and central power of the world." In spite of the fact that Christendom is divided into some hundred and fifty distinct sects, all of which are made up of more or less conflicting units, there is still a common thread of agreement, running through all their varying forms of creed and dogma, as to the belief in one God and the hope of salvation.
