The God to whom I was taught to pray always seemed...
The God to whom I was taught to pray always seemed to be very far away in time of sickness and sorrow. When I became a woman it was impossible for me to believe in anything mysterious. I began to visit different churches, seeking a rational explanation concerning God and man, but failed to find it until I began the study of Christian Science, which impressed me as sensible and logical right from the beginning. I was hungry for the truth. Never before was the Bible so precious to me, and now it is my daily guide. Science and Health unlocked the Bible for me, so that I can understand the spiritual meaning. Although I did not come into Christian Science for physical healing, I was freed from many ailments, for one of which I had taken medical treatment for a long time. Three different doctors had advised me to be operated upon. I was also healed of colds and sore throat. I am very grateful for my physical healing, but most of all I rejoice for the spiritual uplifting. I have found our Father-Mother God, who is a help in every need.
My interest in the study of Christian Science was increased last autumn by the attack on our dear Leader. It showed me the necessity for a higher understanding and manifestation of divine Love on our part. I became desirous of joining a branch church, and began the daily study of the Bible Lessons, from which I am deriving great benefit. For me it is a great pleasure and privilege to be able to testify that Christian Science is true, beautiful, and practical. I can now sincerely say that I would not give my understanding of this truth for all this world contains. My only desire is to watch and pray, and to practise its lessons in my daily life, that I may show my love and gratitude to God and to our beloved Leader. I am also grateful for the privilege of membership in The Mother Church, also to our lecturers, our publishers, and all who contribute to the Christian Science literature.
