AMONG THE CHURCHES

The Jewish New year will be observed with services in First Church of Christ, Scientist, King's Highway and Westminster Place, by the Temple Israel congregation tomorrow evening [Sept. 8]. Rabbi Leon Harrison will have charge of the services, which will begin at five and end at six forty-five o'clock, to enable the Christian Science congregation to use the place of worship for their own services in the evening. The hour is unique among Hebrew congregations, later services being the rule. The services will conform to the old practices of the orthodox religion. According to the Jewish calendar, the year which begins Sunday is 5, 668.

The Christian Science church will be used for regular Monday and Sabbath services until the new temple is completed at King's Highway and Washington Avenue. The Jewish Sabbath is on Saturday and the regular Sabbath services of the Christian Science congregation will not be interfered with. Sunday lectures will be arranged for at Shaare Emeth, the temple presided over by Rev. Dr. Sale, at Lindell and Vandeventer Avenues, in a short time.—The Globe-Democrat.
