From childhood I had been weak and ill
From childhood I had been weak and ill. As I grew older the weakness increased, and the professor whom we at that time consulted, recommended a long rest. His advice did me little good, however, for at the age of nineteen I had to give up my chosen profession of teaching. Last December I was again taken so ill that I had to suspend work, and I was sent to a hospital. There the physicians stated that I had heart and lung trouble. My condition soon grew worse instead of better, and I left the hospital after two weeks. I did not know where to turn for healing, and grew very unhappy. In this despairing condition Christian Science was recommended to me by friends, several copies of Der Herold der Christian Science were given me, and although I had until then not been able to read for any length of time, I was able to read a whole article in Der Herold the following day. I studied more each day, and decided to go to a practitioner for help. After a few treatments I noticed a marked improvement. After two weeks I felt a desire to work, but feared that I might not find a position so out of season. The practitioner told me to banish all such doubt, for God would lead me in the way to find a suitable position. "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you," were her admonishing words, and I soon heard of a position where I was accepted, and where I am still happy and well.
Through Christian Science I have not only been freed from physical ailments, but happiness, contentment, and joy have found entrance to my thought. I thank God, and our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who through her true teaching always points out the right way to Life.
