A little over five years ago I read part of a Christian Science Journal
A little over five years ago I read part of a Christian Science Journal. It seemed good to me, and I bought a copy of Science and Health and began its study. At that time I had given up any belief in God or a future life; but when I learned in Science and Health that God is Love, and Love only, and that evil does not exist except to mortal sense, then my heart went out to Christian Science. Through the study of the text-book, and the declaration of the truth as I learned it there, tobacco was discarded. The desire for an occasional drink went next, also profanity, and in their stead came a sense of the presence of Love, Life, and Truth. I am still trying to overcome whatever stands in the way of my inheritance. My wife, son, and daughter followed me into Christian Science, and all the happiness that we have in our home life we owe to it.
Before I became interested in Christian Science I had frequent headaches, and other ills, but after I began the study of Science and Health these conditions left me, and now the truth is my medicine. Twice I have had an attack of a severe eruption overcome for me through the understanding of a dear practitioner. I am healthier and happier than I ever have been before. Existence once seemed to be a burden, but now I know that God is Life, unchangeable and eternal, and that man reflects God.
I am thankful to Mrs. Eddy for showing us the way. Sometimes, when thinking of our dear Leader, I say, "God bless her," and almost immediately the thought comes.— God is blessing her constantly, in that the truth taught in her book, Science and Health, is becoming the cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night to many weary hearts, leading them into health and peace.
