"Have faith in God" is the starting- point in all forms of...
Cincinnati (O,) Commercial Tribune
"Have faith in God" is the startingpoint in all forms of Christian belief, and Christian Science assuredly encourages this faith. The Christian Scientist, however, does not stop at the A B C of religion, but, in the infinite scope and operation of the Science, he works toward the solution of the generally considered inscrutable problem of sin, disease, and death.
It is apparent to any thinking person that the common idea or conception of that Being whom mortals call God has, in the last half century, undergone a great change, and that the belief in a faraway God is gradually fading out This advance in our concept of God is naturally followed by a corresponding change in our concept of man. The nearer our concept of God approaches the infinite, the less finite will be our concept of man as God's image and likeness.
The God of the Christian Scientist is divine Mind, Truth, Love, Principle, the only real power and presence in the universe, as the Gospel teaches. Constantly accentuating in thought and deed his idea of God, the Christian Scientist finds in this idea a guiding and supporting influence outside himself, and in the measure that he turns his thought from self toward this source of all strength, in that proportion are his mind and body relieved.
