As to Testimonies of Healing

In publishing testimonies of healing in the Sentinel and Journal it is of course necessary that we should be governed by certain rules, and adherence to these rules makes it impossible for us to publish every testimony received. One of the most important requirements is that in the case of adults the testimony shall be given by the person healed. Another is that the testimony shall be supported by the verification of some person other than the one healed. The reasons for these requirements are so obvious that they need not be repeated here.

It goes without saying that to be available for publication every testimony must be concise, definite, and conclusive. It is not necessary to give minute and elaborately detailed descriptions of all the symptoms and conditions of human suffering through which the person has passed; these are generally inferred when the disease and its duration are named. The following testimony from Miss Frances Drury, Omaha, Neb., is almost ideal in its brief and concise statement of the essential facts connected with her case. She writes: —

"From childhood I was afficted with epilepsy, which had increased in severity through seventeen years. The attacks occurred at intervals of from two to four weeks, and at last they threatened my mind and even my life. My parents tried many doctors of different schools, but without permanent help, and they mostly pronounced my case incurable. Hundreds of dollars were spent in this manner. I came to Christian Science a physical and mental wreck and totally without hope. I was completely cured in two weeks' treatment from a Christian Science practitioner, costing me ten dollars. This was four years ago and I have never had a symptom of the disease since. My health is excellent, and I have never had need of treatment since, nor have I resorted to any kind of medicine."
