When Christian Science was presented to me, I was suffering...
When Christian Science was presented to me, I was suffering with a serious complication of diseases, such as lumbago, scatica, stomach trouble, and severe nervous trouble. I had been confined to my bed most of the time for three years, I had tried a number of physicians and had given materia medica a thorough trial, also electricity, osteopathy, and various other treatments, but found them of no avail. At the beginning of the third year I found myself rapidly growing worse.
After a few months of treatment from a Christian Science practitioner, and the study of the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, I found that I had not only been healed of my physical troubles, but of the tobacco habit, also of profanity. All these have been destroyed by the revelation of this truth that makes us free, and my thoughts and conduct have turned in an opposite direction, although I have taken treatments for sickness only. My day's work is now accomplished with more ease and satisfaction, the scales have fallen from my eyes; I have learned that "man is spiritual and not material" (Science and Health, p. 468); I have been brought to the realization that I am living in a world of peace, harmony, and love instead of one of darkness and despair.
I can never say enough for Christian Science, which has made me a better man, morally, physically, and spiritually. May we never cease to thank God for this truth which has made us free, and may His blessings be with the one who has so patiently brought it to us.
