About twelve years ago a friend spoke to me of Christian Science, and gave me some reading on the subject, but I put it aside. Six years passed by, bringing much sorrow, and I still called upon God in the same old way, often wondering why He allowed all the seeming conditions, but still clinging through faith to Jesus, as the Saviour upon whom all my hopes were centered. About this time Christian Science was again offered to me, when a dear niece who had been healed through Christian Science from every ill to which flesh is heir, offered to give me a copy of Science and Health, if I would promise to read it. I said to her that if it conflicted in any way with the Bible I would not read it. She sweetly replied, "Love gives this to you," and I began reading it. I felt the power of Truth, and found that divine Love had indeed given me the book, and that it is truly the "Key" to His Word. In September, 1903, I took my name from the church record, purchased a Quarterly and began to study; asking and receiving spiritual sight. There is no organized society here, but I have service now alone with God each Sabbath, and a few of us meet and study the Lesson, knowing that "in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." Since beginning to understand in small measure something of the truth which is revealed in Mrs. Eddy's works, my heart often goes out lovingly to her, and I long to be fitted to help those about me.
