Your issue of late date contained a discussion that appeared in an insurance magazine of the desirability of Christian Scientists as life insurance risks, the basis of the question being that they do not employ drugs or medical attendance in case of illness. The greater portion of this discussion was on the assumed proposition that Christian Scientists are an "extra risk from lack of skilled medical attendance in sickness."

If Christian Science entails extra risk of death among its adherents, it would be evident in the church membership, which is not the case. While no detailed data on mortality has been gathered regarding Christian Scientists, it is evident on every hand that they are a healthy people, and their universal verdict is that they have better health and are physically stronger than before they became Christian Scientists.

The assumption of this writer that Christian Scientists are negectful of their children by delaying the calling of a physician, while they for themselves employ medical aid, is entirely false. Christian Scientists are as careful of the lives of their children as of their own. In both cases they rely on God alone and exactly in the same manner and to the same degree.
