THE LECTURES

The annual lecture on Christian Science was given by the Rev. Arthur R. Vosburgh on Saturday evening, Nov. 3, in the Music Hall, George Street. The hall was well filled; a noticeably large number of men being present. The spirit of the audience was a strikingly earnest one and the lecture was listened to throughout with unusual attention. The title of the lecture was "The Idealism of Jesus," and the subject was treated in a beautiful and original manner, showing clearly that the idealism of Jesus accomplished easily what all the genius and realism of mankind has failed to bring about.

In the course of his lecture Mr. Vosburgh touched on the recent references to Mrs. Eddy in the American and British press, and his contradiction of these reports brought forth very gratifying applause. The lecturer was introduced by Commander J. G. Heugh, D.S.O., R.N., with the following remarks:—

Not only is it a great honor but a privilege that I am able to associate myself with the lecturer and Christian Science. Christian Science is a practical religion, a religion of right thinking, and it is attracting universal attention owing to its regenerative and healing power. To the question "What is Truth?" Christian Science replies by demonstration. Thousands are being healed daily by its understanding and demonstration of the Christ-truth. I am very grateful to God that I am able to count myself one of these. Over five years ago I was in a hopeless condition, and after trying every available material remedy without success. I was healed instantaneously by Christian Science.
