In grateful acknowledgment of the blessings that have...

In grateful acknowledgment of the blessings that have come into my life during the past five years, through the health-giving power of Christian Science, I feel impelled to write of some of the trials which preceded its acceptance. I was a great sufferer for over twenty years, with what several physicians pronounced rheumatic and stomach troubles, also female weakness. I always tried to bear the suffering, and with hopes of some time being made well, took the medicines prescribed for me, but suffered untold agony from the use of powerful liniments, which gave at most but temporary relief. After the doctors failed to help me, I tried message and electricity for a long time. Thinking the climate of North Dakota, where we then lived, was not conducive to my recovery, the doctors advised me to seek help in a warmer place, and we consequently moved to the Pacific coast. For a short time the change seemed to help me and I was encouraged, but with the changing seasons the troubles became as bad as ever. I was then advised to go to California for the winter, which I did. I certainly tried with all my might to get well. The change seemed to revive me for a little while, when with greater discouragement I went to see a specialist, who said I would not live more than six months. Feeling very despondent and with hopes of life fast slipping away, I returned home to Vancouver, B. C., to prepare for the worst.

In this condition Christian Science found me, and I cannot forget my joy when learning from the practitioner to whom I appealed, that all things are possible to God; and I began at once to prove this through the healing influence of Truth as demonstrated for me. My healing came slowly, but as compared with the suffering endured for so many years, under the kindest care of the different physicians we had employed, the health and happiness experienced from Christian Science, even though it came slowly, it was to me the greatest of blessings. From the first treatment in Science the great fear of death was taken away and the pain was greatly reduced.

While I feel grateful beyond measure for the perfect health which I have enjoyed for the past five years, the spiritual unfolding of God's promises, gained in making a study of the Christian Science text-book, has become to me far more precious, and I am striving to prove my gratitude to Mrs. Eddy in a life made purer through her teachings of God's Word.
