In the year 1888 I was suffering from a stomach and bowel trouble, for which my physician said there was no known cure, and opiates were administered whenever the pain became unbearable. In this extremity I applied to a Christian Science practitioner, a student of Mrs. Eddy, and in a short time I was well. A year later our babe, three weeks old, was placed under a physician's care for treatment of a condition from which we had lost our first-born. After several weeks of surgical treatment, as there was no improvement in her condition, we again sought aid from Christian Science. The result was complete healing in ten days. Since then no material remedies have been used in our family of four, although several serious cases of illness have occurred during these years, and many minor maladies. For these and all other needs Christian Science has been found sufficient, and my thought often goes out in love to the one who has made a better understanding of Life possible to me,—our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy. I feel that the only adequate expression of my gratitude is in daily striving to so live that I may bring no reproach on our glorious Cause, and in endeavoring to so purify my thought that Truth may shine through me to heal and save others.
Mrs. Caroline P. Calohan, Eureka Springs, Ark.
