It is with a heart overflowing with gratitude to God, and to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, that I most gladly contribute the following testimonial of healing through Christian Science. About eighteen years ago, while out driving, the vehicle was overturned. My left limb was to all appearances badly injured, and I was carried home in a helpless condition, suffering intensely. The best surgeon in the town was immediately called, and after administering chloroform and working on me for nearly two hours, he said that it might be several months before I recovered entirely. I was confined to my bed for about six weeks, and when I did get up, had to use crutches for four months. The injured limb at times caused me very great pain, and in walking I limped considerably.
About a year after this, I came from Louisiana to Texas, and for the past three years I have been a resident of Dallas. During all these years I was still a sufferer, until about eighteen months ago, when I became interested in Christian Science and attended the services regularly. I was informed by a dear Scientist that there had been cases of healing at the Wednesday evening meetings, and while in attendance on such an occasion, my limb began to pain me so severely that at first I thought I would be compelled to leave the church. I declared the truth to the best of my understanding, but the suffering did not entirely cease until the services were about over, and on leaving the church such a sweet peace and heavenly calmness came over me as words are inadequate to express, and I realized from that very moment that my limb was healed. The next morning I walked to my place of business without the least inconvenience or pain.
I am thankful to God for this healing, and for the many other demonstrations and blessings that have come to me through the study of this beautiful, Christlike religion. It has helped me physically, morally, financially; and above all, I am most grateful for the spiritual uplifting, the happiness, contentment, and the sweet peace that "passeth all understanding." Christian Science enables me to seek and to find the good in my fellow-men, and to realize that all God's children have one Mind, and reflect only God, good.
