I am more grateful for Christian Science than I know...
I am more grateful for Christian Science than I know how to express. I was healed of asthmatic trouble, which I had had for over twenty years, or since childhood, and that by studying "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. While I am indeed thankful for the physical healing, I feel that that is only a small part of the blessing that has come to me through Christian Science. To me the desire and ability to become a better man is of far more importance than the cure of my disease. It took many years to arouse in my father an interest in Christian Science. He felt that he was too strong-minded to espouse anything that savored of religion. Finally he was grievously ill, and was confined to his bed for many weeks. For a long time he turned a deaf ear to my request that he try Christian Science, but at last he found that medicine was of no avail and wrote to me (I was nearly four hundred miles away) that if I had anything which would do him any good to send it, and send it quick. I immediately telephoned a practitioner to give him absent treatment. In two weeks I visited him, and found, when I arose the first morning, that he had been out for a three mile walk before breafast. A few days before this he not only had been unable to walk, but was absolutely helpless. Truly, through Christian Science, the prophecy of Jesus respecting each faithful follower is fulfilled: "The works that I do shall he do also;" and his command, "Heal the sick." is obeyed.
