Letters to our Leader

Chicago, Ill., January 3, 1906.

To Mrs. Mary Baker G. Eddy, Pleasant View, Concord, N. H.

Precious Leader:—To give to the church was one of the most difficult lessons for me to learn, and only within the last year, through the influence of my wife, have I been awakened to this blessed privilege. My salary is not large, but since we have been giving nearly ten per cent of it to The Mother Church Building Fund each month, and five per cent to the weekly collection basket at our church, we have been blessed greatly. My income, outside of my salary, has increased five times our monthly subscriptions. Money has come to me from unexpected sources. We surely have much reason for rejoicing, not only because we have learned that "It is more blessed to give than to receive," but for the health and happiness that have come into our lives through the study of your wondrous book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." From a state of nervous prostration, melancholy, and suicidal mania, I have awakened to the "glorious liberty of the children of God."
