I was led to accept Christian Science about twelve years ago. I was a member of an orthodox church at the time, but was not fully satisfied and had a strong desire to know the truth, the narrow way. With that desire uppermost in my thought, I began to read Science and Health, with a mixed hope of being healed of my physical ailments and of being benefited spiritually. Before I had read it through I found to my great joy and surprise that I was healed of indigestion and of a disease of the bowels from which my mother and her sisters passed away, and from which I had been at times a great sufferer for fifty years. Through the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and with the help I have received from dear friends, I have had many demonstrations of the power of Truth over error. One of these for which I am especially grateful is the positive proof that divine Love can and does destroy sorrow. After reading Science and Health a few days I came to see I had no use for dyspeptic tablets, gum opium, pills, snuff, tobacco, and a whiskey flask which I had been in the habit of emptying quite often. What a grand thing it is to know that divine Love can and does destroy false appetites. Words can never express my gratitude for the blessings received through Christian Science. I thank our Father-Mother God that Mrs. Eddy was so faithful to Principles to be fitted to receive Christian Science and give it to the world. I am happy with the thought that I was led into Christian Science; that the members of First Church of Christ, Scientist, in this place were most kind to help me, and that I was counted worthy to become a member of this little band of faithful Christian workers. My greatest desire is to so live that I may be worthy to name the name of Christ and to be a true, faithful Christian Scientist.—Asher Wilcox, Eugene, Ore.
