An Interesting Article

"Christian Science and Legislation" is the title of a very interesting article which Judge Clifford P. Smith of Iowa contributes to the October number of The Christian Science Journal, and it will be well for Christian Scientists to see that it is widely circulated. The article is a concise statement of the legal and constitutional rights of the members of our denomination in the practice of their religion, and it has special timeliness in view of the near approach of the assembling of many State legislatures.

Judge Smith is himself a beneficiary of Christian Science, and his statement that those who have turned to it for the healing of disease have found it "to be a superior curative agent, even curing the diseases which other systems deem incurable," is based upon his own personal experience and observation. The following extract from his article presents sufficient reasons for the defeat of every bill which in the slightest degree menaces the freedom of Christian Scientists to practise the Christianity of Christ Jesus, and we commend it to those legislators who may be called upon to consider and vote upon any proposed legislation which so vitally affects the liberty of the people as do the bills which are frequently introduced under the misleading caption, "An act to regulate the practice of medicine."
