Twelve years ago I heard of Christian Science
Twelve years ago I heard of Christian Science. I was out on a shoreless sea, without compass or chart. I was seeking a home in some church where there were no areeds nor man-made doctrines when I heard of Christian Science through the healing of a young man who had been a cripple for four years, and was given up by some of the best medical skill in the town as incurable, and who was healed in a very short time, to the astonishment of friends and neighbors, and has enjoyed good health ever since. I knew of the case and asked what had wrought the miracle as I thought it must be, and was told it was Christian Science.
"Prove all things; hold fast that which is good," those words of Paul came to me, and I knew as soon as I began to look into it that it was the truth that I was looking for, and needed. The Bible was a sealed book to me and I could not read it with any satisfaction; now it and all our dear Leader's works are my greatest treasures.
I was healed of an old trouble that was held over me when quite young, the belief in consumption. When the neighbors said I would never come out of the house until carried out, I was healed in a very short time, to their surprise. My heart goes out daily in humble thanksgiving to God for our Leader, who was found worthy to bring this truth to a needy world. God bless her, is my daily prayer. Through the understanding of our text-book, Science and Health, I have been able to help myself and others, for which I am very thankful. I saw that I must work out my own salvation, but never felt like giving up. There was much to be cast out. According to the mortal sense I am far advanced in years,—M. E. Reed, Pittsburg, Pa.
