Baltimore (Md.) American
To those who have not been close observers of the gradual trend of thought and events in Baltimore, the rapid progress made by Christian Science in this city during the past few years comes as a somewhat startling surprise. The surprise becomes greater when it becomes known that the foremost adherents of the doctrine and its warmest supporters are not among the classes naturally given to experimenting on such subjects, or who accept credulously the latest psychological novelty offered, but the members of the so-called smart set, to whom pleasure and pleasant living are supposed to be the chief and, indeed, the only objects of existence.—Baltimore (Md.) American.
