Seventeen Years a Witness
"That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; . . . that which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us : and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his son Jesus Christ" (I John, I : I, 3).
Through the medium of the Sentinel I desire to a humble acknowledgment of my seventeen years of blessing in Christian Science. My first experience in this line of light was my own marvelous healing, a great blessing. But during all these years a still greater blessing has been mine, the blessing of thinking and speaking the word of truth through which hundreds of others have been healed. All Christian Scientists have shared in a greater or less degree the blessing of being healed, and of seeing others healed; but all have not acknowledged to the world their individual experiences; for if they had, the world would resound with their united voices with the praises of still more wonderful healing than it has yet witnessed.
I have told my story of early healing over and over, and never tire of repeating it for the good of others. There are now thousands rejoicing in like blessings, where there was one at the time I was healed. I shall leave it to them to testify to the physical healing, while I yield to a prompting to bear witness to a still broader healing through growth in the understanding of Christian Science. The healing to which I now refer is the enlarged sense of honesty and justice which comes after the new birth in Christian Science.
