Wishing to acknowledge some of the benefits I have received...
Wishing to acknowledge some of the benefits I have received in Christian Science, I send the following statement regarding the instantaneous healing of broken bones, which proves that truth, scientifically applied, is the greatest of all surgeons.
On Friday morning, July 24, 1903, while taking my usual morning excercise in my room before going down to breakfast. I attempted to turn on one foot, and, losing my balance, fell heavily, striking my lower ribs on the side rail of the bed. Something cracked like the snapping of a dry stick, the sound being heard distinctly by myself and a friend who was present and who tried to catch me but failed. My friend asked if I were hurt, and I replied, "Not much." He then helped me on the bed and, on examination, it was found that three of my lower ribs were broken close to the spine. The pain in my back and side was intense, and the thought came to me that I should be laid up for a long time and be compelled to endure great physical suffering.
Knowing what Christian Science had done for me in the past, and the many wonderful cures of other cases, I asked my friend to telephone for a practitioner to come at once. She came very soon after receiving the message, and when she came into the room I said, "I have broken my ribs." She replied, "It makes no difference to divine Mind whether you think you have broken them or not."
