It is about eight years since I took up the study of Christian Science. I had been suffering with a trouble in my head for nearly thirty years. I had tried many physicians, some of whom I know had made a study of my case with a sincere desire to find something to bring me relief. They had tried all the remedies they knew of that had been said to cure the different forms of head trouble, but none seemed to reach my case, which physicians called congestion of the nerves of the brain, and the last one I called, said the only thing that could be done was to use morphine when I felt an attack coming on to tide me over the worst agony of pain, for it would last three days and nights at one time. Then I resorted to steam baths, electricity, and every material treatment that was offered to me, but could find no relief in anything.
At last I heard of Christian Science, and was advised to get the book Science and Health, by Mrs. Eddy, and study it. I did so and began very cautiously to look into it, for I was taught to believe very rigidly in the orthodox faith, and I said that if this in any way conflicted with the Bible, I should have nothing to do with it. I very soon took up the study in earnest, and oh, the joy that came to me in the new unfolding of the truth contained in the Bible, when unlocked with the key of Divine Science!
I had been quite a student of the Bible in former years, committing a great many passages of Scripture to memory, and they came rushing into my mind so flooded with a new light that I would sit in astonishment, drinking in the spiritual meaning of the word until I was "lost in wonder, love, and praise."
