I feel I must express my gratitude for all the good that has come to me in every direction through Christian Science, and first, for my physical healing. From childhood I suffered from nervous diseases, which attacked me at different intervals, and some years ago they had gained such control over me that I felt discouraged and despondent, and was often tired of life.
I then heard of Christian Science and determined to try it, since no other means could relieve my suffering. I took treatments, although I had at first but very little hope, because my trouble did not get better but seemed to grow rather worse. The error had gained such control over me that it rebelled with all its might against the truth that would expel it. If my practitioner had not expressed so much patience and love, I should have turned back to the physician, but I began to read the book Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and gradually the joyful assurance came that the teachings of this book must be true, and with this recognition I began to hope that I also might find help in this way.
As the first signs of improvement were manifested, I could not possibly let go of Christian Science, the understanding of which destroyed one error after another. With deep gratitude I noticed that my old faults and sins gradually lost their reality in my consciousness, and hence their power over me was gone. Formerly I had been a plague to all about me on account of my irritability. impatience, unfriendliness, and pessimistic conception of life. Now I see in the light of Truth that only love, harmony, and perfection should be expressed in my life, and that I therefore have every reason to be a happy child of my heavenly Father, who gives me all good, far more than I can appropriate, and that all fear, sorrow, and discord disappear in nothingness before the all-power of Love.
