For eight years I had worn glasses for farsightedness,...

For eight years I had worn glasses for farsightedness, and two years ago I took them off. I was then receiving treatments in Christian Science for other troubles, and I complained to my practitioner, telling her that I suffered from pain in my eyes. I thought that my glasses no longer fitted me, and that I must try to get others. I understood but very little about Christian Science, and yet I did know that it was not necessary to wear glasses, and that it is error to believe that sight must be clouded as we grow older, for this would be incompatible with the goodness of God.

My practitioner advised me to lay my glasses aside. This at first seemed almost impossible, for I could not read a line nor do any fancy work without them, but gradually I grew better, and now I can read in the evening, do all kinds of fancy work, and never even think of glasses.

Sometimes a sense of pain tries to assert itself, but I know that if I remain faithful it must disappear, and God will enable me to know the truth which sets free.
