In attempting to give my personal experiences since came to Christian Science, there seem to be few startling things to relate, for since beginning the study of this Science, some fifteen years ago, I have been constantly protected by divine Love, never having been sick abed for a single day.

I did not come to Christian Science for the spiritual understanding, for I did not know then that it was a religion; I came to it simply for healing, that I might escape an operation that the surgeons considered necessary of my recovery. A teacher of mine was at the time taking a course in Christian Science, and he induced me to call upon a practitioner. I had six treatments of this student of Mrs. Eddy, but it would be difficult to tell when I was healed. I was so engrossed with what my practitioner told me of the omnipresence and omnipotence of God, that I quite forgot my pains and helplessness, knowing that if I were healed, I should have the proof that God is really here and now. At the end of two weeks I was well and able to return to my studies and enjoy them as I never had before.

As I look back, what seems to me most remarkable in all my experience is that the power of the declaration of the word of God, even when so little understood, worked such wonders for me. I was enabled through this slight understanding of Christian Science to teach from eight o'clock in the morning until nearly six, never feeling the least fatigue. I had learned that God is my strength, that in Him I live and move and have my being.
