Having been helped so often by the testimonials in the Sentinel and Journal, I wish to add my mite, hoping it may help some one whose healing is slow.
For three years I suffered from an abnormal inward growth. Christian Science was suggested to me in the beginning, but I felt that I should be better satisfies to have a physician give his opinion first, and employed him to help me. After a treatment I was always prostrated for a few hours, and the last treatment the physician gave me was so severe that the prostration continued for days. My suffering was intense. I then declared that I had had enough of materia medica and turned to Christian Science. After some months, I was in the "Slough of Despond." I thought I was doing my own work to the best of my ability, and yet there was no improvement apparent. For a while I stopped treatment and studied constantly, thinking that perhaps I could work out my own salvation, but I kept getting worse all the time. I began treatment again, devoting nearly all my time to the study of Science and Health, determined that if there were anything in it to heal me, I would find it. While at times I felt better, the manifestation of error increased, but I knew I was gaining a better understanding of Truth, and my fear was almost entirely destroyed. Then for three weeks error made its final effort to assert its power. According to mortal mind my end was near; but it was only the end of the false claim of error; for one morning, after studying again prayerfully and tearfully, the trouble was entirely overcome, and I was free. Such blessed freedom! I shall never be able to describe my joy. My healing was slow, but I have gained an understanding of Truth that I should never have attained otherwise. I feel very grateful to my kind and patient practitioners, and to our Leader, for showing us the way to apply this truth—Mrs. S. C., Pottsville, Pa.
