Recently the Chicago Record-Herald published the result of a count of the attendants at the Sunday morning service of 125 of the 666 churches in that city. The churches selected were representative of the various denominations.

The figures are especially interesting to all who remember that the first Christian Science church in the world was organized in 1879, and the first in Chicago in 1886 with twenty-six members.

The following is a summary of the count. Roman Catholic, 17 churches, 47,085 attendants; Methodist Episcopal, 25 churches, 4,498 attendants; Protestant Episcopal, 18 churches, 3,046 attendants; Baptist, 15 churches, 2,358 attendants; Congregational, 12 churches, 1,882 attendants; Presbyterian, 11 churches, 2,680 attendants; Evangelical Lutheran, 5 churches, 840 attendants; Reformed Episcopal, 4 churches, 411 attendants; Christian, 6 churches, 873 attendants; Christian Science, 4 churches, 3,266 attendants; Independent, one church, 978 attendants; Union, one church, 272 attendants.
