It is now over thirteen years since I first heard of Christian Science. I thought that I opposed Christian Science, but soon found that it was not the Science I opposed, but my conception of it.

Since I was a little child I had suffered severely every spring with neuralgia in my head and face. Sometimes it would last but a few days, at others it would be weeks before I would be entirely free from pain. It seemed to be worse every year, and how I dreaded each spring ! Our family physician (one of the best of men) said to me, "You will doubtless suffer more severely each year, as long as you live."

A relative who had been healed by Christian Science came to visit us, and when I was suffering greatly she said to me, "Christian Science would heal you, and when you are ready to give up your medicine I will treat you." Doubting the possibility of help from any other source, I continued taking medicine for several days, but at last my sufferings were so severe that I gave up all medicine, asked for Christian Science treatment, was instantly healed, and have never had any return of the trouble.
