Let us be Discreet

The command to preach the gospel does not mean to Christian Scientists that they shall intrude their views upon their friends and neighbors, nor even upon their own families, if they are not ready to receive the good tidings.

Our endeavors to interest others in Christian Science should be timely and courteous. Officious and persistent efforts to press the subject upon the attention of those unwilling to listen, is neither wise nor polite.

As a denomination, and as individuals, our every act is subjected to close scrutiny, and much of the world's estimate of Christian Science will be based upon our conduct and discretion. If we demean ourselves with Christly and therefore considerate gentleness, with loving regard for the rights and privileges of our fellow-men, it will be noted, and placed to our credit.

That the manner and form of our presentation of the truths of Christian Science, is the subject of notice and review is shown by a recent editorial in the Canton Register which appears in another column of this issue. The editorial is a just tribute to the spontaneous courtesy, good sense, and good temper apparent in the work of the Publication Committee. M.
