The Lectures

Mrs. Annie M. Knott of Detroit, a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, of Boston, gave a highly interesting lecture on Christian Science at Dowling's Opera House last night [June 9] before a large-sized and attentive audience which literally packed the theater. The affair was under the auspices of the local Christian Science Church.

In introducing Mrs. Knott, Prof. W. T. Giffe said in part:

"The great heart of humanity has ever throbbed with the consciousness that there is a God who is the causation of all; who is over all, through all, and in all. The world's understanding of God has ever been confused by the dogmas of men based upon mistaken conceptions of God's creation and of the teachings of His Son, Jesus the Christ. The Bible tells us that "God is a Spirit and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." It further declares that "ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." In the heart of every one of us there is a deep desire to know the truth about God, and to have the truth demonstrated to the satisfaction of our mortal sense.
