In the year 1890 my attention was called to Christian Science as a remedy for all kinds of disease. For several years previous, I had been in very poor health.

One day I went to visit a cousin of my husband, and before the day was over we drifted toward the subject of Christian Science. She explained as well as she understood what it was, and told me what it had done for her. Knowing that she had been feeble for a number of years, I listened with much interest. When the conversation was finished she said, "Perhaps you had better try the Science."

She gave me two tracts to take home with me to read. The subject of one was "Must I have Faith in Christian Science?" etc. The other, "There is Rest and Peace on Earth." The last greatly impressed me. I had read all my life of rest and peace in heaven, but had never thought it could be so near to me on earth. It was this particular tract which drew me to Christian Science and held me. Those words rang in my ears for a number of days. I would read them over and over again, then lay the tracts away. Again the desire was strong to read them. I was finally convinced it was the right way to be treated.
