Christian Science not Hypnotism
The Bloomfield (Neb.) Journal
To the Editor of The Bloomfield Journal.
In your issue of May 1, under the headline, "Christ a Hypnotist," there is a brief report of a lecture by Rabbi Hirsch at Johns Hopkins University.
The Rabbi thinks that the work of Moses, Christ, Dowie, "the magic healers of the Orient," and Christian Scientists are all explainable on the basis of hypnotism. Among mental methods he admits that Christian Science does the best healing. He says: "The only difference is that the Christian Scientists understand the healing power while the people of the Far East do not."
