Christian Science Literature

How gratefully the Sentinel is received and its contents devoured in our household! I greatly appreciate a clean, pure, newspaper that gives us what all mankind need, even food instead of trash.

Years ago, before I knew aught of Christian Science I felt the need of such a friend, just what the Sentinel is to me, but I found it not in our newspaper. There was little published but tales of woe,—sin, sickness, and death. I was an invalid and I was so troubled by hearing of nothing but the sorrows of my fellow-creatures, that it would often prostrate me, and my friends would carefully avoid speaking of such things in my presence. I would ask my growing boys not to read such things, but to read the Bible and good moral literature.

Now I have Christian Science reading, which is so strong in the right and so pure in every motive, that in reading it mortals are lifted out of themselves, and as Christian Scientists we can know that evil is unreal, and good is the only reality; therefore we need not be prostrated at the hearing or sight of evil, but must deny its verity, know God's allness, and so bless our friends, neighbors, and all mankind.
