When Christian Science was presented to me two years ago it found me a frail old man, whose locks showed the frosts of seventy-six winters.

I was full of infirmities, such as deafness and very poor sight, so much so that I was obliged to give up my occupation as a builder. I had a rupture of forty years' standing, and a confirmed tobacco habit of forty years, also many other infirmities such as old persons are subject to. I was a complete wreck on the rocks of mortal mind and a confirmed infidel.

In this condition I commenced reading Science and Health by Mary B. G. Eddy. I had read but a few pages before I found the difference between the mortal and the immortal mind. Next I found what and where God was. What and where heaven (harmony) was, and what I was myself, and also my relation to my Creator.
