No Little Things

There are no little things; the slightest word,
Unkind and thoughtless, whispered, scarcely heard,
Has in its way a mighty current stirred,
And as it passes loud and louder rings.
Oh friends! believe, there are no little things.

There are no useless things; what seems most weak
Perhaps the stronger voice will have to speak.
And what is humble-hearted, pure, and meek
Sometimes most helpfulness and comfort brings—
Proves to the world there are no little things.

In Bethlehem's manger lay a little one
Whose baby brow was crowned as with the sun;
Follow his steps, and do as he has done,
And you will find what life, what joy it brings.
His Love is full of great and glorious things.
