"A Little Child"

Such a sweet lesson came to me a few days ago, that I send it, hoping it may help some one as I was helped.

A littie child, hardly more than a baby, had strayed into our street, and though many people endeavored to ascertain his name, and some neighbors tried to take him in, he would not come; but stood soberlly with both little feet firmly planted in the muddy water. One of our family had been among those who tried to befriend him; so my first thought on hearing of it was, I am sorry, but we have done our part.

Soon, however, came the thought, "Nothing is lost, surely not one of God's little ones; and Love must be able to make this child come to us."
