I was raised from what was supposed to be my death-bed...

I was raised from what was supposed to be my death-bed ten years ago, after all medical aid had failed. When a Christian Scientist was called to my bedside I told her I wished to be left alone to die. She said, "With God there is no death." What these words meant to me, only eternity can tell, and the only way for me to show my gratitude is to prove it in my life's practice in overcoming everything that does not belong to God.

I asked my healer why it was that my own prayers were not heard. She said, "You asked and had not, because you asked amiss." I said, "Oh, how could that be possible when I prayed so earnestly and sometimes all night?" She replied, "You asked God to serve you. In Christian Science we learn how to serve Him." I knew at once that this was the Truth, and it awakened in me a desire to know how to pray. I have learned since that it is indeed the righteous prayer that heals the sick, and causes us to be as little children willing to be led, and with a constant desire of the heart asking daily for God to show us the way.

I thank God daily for the wonderful Truth that is unfolding to us through that blessed book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." God bless our dear Mother, and all her dear, loyal students who are working so faithfully to make the way clearer for all those following.—MRS. AMANDA E. LAY. Burlington, la.
