Thanks for the Sentinel

On New Year's eve my daughter Ethel and I determined that we would watch the old century out and that the new century must find us reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker G. Eddy. At eleven o'clock I opened the book haphazard and began to read.

I read along steadily until, as the first bell sounded, ushering in the new century, I reached these words, page 300: " 'The night is far spent,' and, with the dawn, Truth will open the spiritual senses to hear and speak the 'new tongue.' "

We felt for a few moments as though our blessed Father were speaking aloud to us, we looked at each other in perfect amazement. I had never noticed those particular lines and did not know they were there.
