Prayer

Prayer is communion with God. All who believe in prayer at all will assent to this. But what is communion with God? It may be answered that it is unity with God. It may be answered that it is at once communion and unity with God. Another answer is that it is at-one-ment with God. These different terms are synonymous.

In its best sense prayer is right living. One who lives rightly all the time is praying all the time, because he is in communion, in unity, in at-one-ment with God. This is to "pray without ceasing," the prayer commanded by Jesus.

Let us find another word for prayer. We could find many—scores indeed, but just one more for the present. In Amos, 3: 1-3, we read:—
