Sight Restored through Christian Science

New York Journal

Richmond, Va., September 3.—Mr. Charles W. Tanner, a member of the City Council and one of the best known business men here, has recovered his eyesight by Christian Science.

His case is attracting wide attention among medical men and laymen. Mr. Tanner says that he has been almost blind for twenty-eight years, and barely been able to recognize his acquaintances.

He says he began to take the treatment July 5 from a lady in this city, having first understood clearly that he should surrender none of his own religious opinions.

After five visits on consecutive days, at each of which the practitioner sat with a hand shading her eyes and in absolute silence, Mr. Tanner, at her suggestion, attempted to read.

He failed, but was told to make a determined effort that night. He did so, and began to read a book at 10.45, and continued it until 2 a.m.

He visited the Scientist once more, and became convinced that he was cured. He now reads with perfect comfort.

Mr. Tanner has no theory regarding the method of his cure.—New York Journal.
