Healing Pronounced Wonderful
In the fall of 1899, my son, eleven years old, was taken sick. He complained that his leg hurt him and the following day he was unable to use it. Two physicians examined him and said he had inflammatory rheumatism, and that the large bone of the limb was splintered but not broken. The limb was bandaged and then poulticed. In a short time an abscess formed and an operation was deemed necessary. Up to January, 1900, they operated many times, each time taking away slivers of bone. His leg became so drawn that it was fully six inches from the floor, and he was unable to straighten it out. At this period the doctor suggested taking him to the hospital.
I had heard of Christian Science through the healing of a man living a short distance from us, who had been healed of a cancer. Another neighbor had also been healed. This neighbor inquired about my son, and my wife told her we had about decided to try Christian Science. The next morning she accompanied my wife to Detroit to see a healer who began to treat him at once. In one week he was able to step on his foot, in nine weeks he was healed. His leg is perfect and he enjoys good health.
I met one of the doctors one day, who asked me what I had done for my son. I told him he had been healed in Christian Science. "Well," he said, "I don't believe in it, but I am glad the boy is all right." The other physician was very curious about the case when he heard that Christian Science had healed him; he wanted to see the boy, so we called on him and he at once wanted to see the limb. After examining it he said, "That's all right; it is healed splendidly."
