Awake Thou that Sleepest

The past week, I seem to have been awakened to the fact of the work one must do as a Christian Scientist. We are asleep, resting in the work that Mother and the head ones have done and are doing, resting in the fact that Truth is and hence must be victorious.

Jesus said, "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you," showing plainly that Truth is, is for us, and that we are to have it, but, he said, "Ask, seek, knock." Words expressive of decisive action.

The character of Peter has always been of interest to me. It was Peter who, at a time when Jesus was despised and rejected, said, "Thou art the Christ;" and again when Jesus explained why he would wash the feet, said, "Not my feet only, but also my hands and my head." No half-way position for Peter, yet, at this time, Jesus foretold the denial. Did he see that Peter was satisfied with the position of disciple, but not ready for the work belonging to that position?
