Seven green parrots

One day last summer, it dawned on me that 25 years had passed since my oldest son had been killed in an auto accident, shortly after he graduated from the university.

After the accident, I remember falling to my knees and desperately searching for help from an assortment of Christian Science periodicals I’d saved. Somehow, I found an article in The Christian Science Journal that helped (“The continuity of being excludes termination,” by William E. Moody, September 1982). The article dealt with uninterrupted activity and stated that “continuous life does not know birth or death.” Here was an article that was not about death, but life!

One particular idea from Mr. Moody’s article has supported me all these years. It’s that it is important to stay clear of any “sepulchre thinking,” and that only when we are expressing spontaneity, thanksgiving, expectancy, praise, peace, and harmony, can we truly know that we are immortal.
