Comfort and healing for the little ones

Several months ago, while visiting my son and his family in a nearby city, I had the privilege to witness the effectiveness of Christian Science treatment and the immediate results of applying this scientific system of spiritual healing. I felt the fulfillment of the Psalmist’s promise “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Ps. 46:1).

One afternoon, my son was in the midst of answering questions from several workmen, who were installing a new electronic system in his home. Inés, my toddler granddaughter—a very good-natured child who rarely gets upset or cries—was playing on the ottoman, jumping and weaving her way through and around my son’s legs. At one point, she jumped and landed in an unusual position while holding on to her dad’s hands. When she got up, she whimpered a little, but moments later broke into screaming cries as she tried to lift her arms. It seemed something had been strained or pulled out of place in her shoulders.

I picked her up immediately and held her steady while my son quickly finished with the installers. Before they left, the gentlemen, all young fathers, expressed concern for the obvious physical immobility and pain my granddaughter was experiencing and suggested we seek medical treatment immediately. We assured them that we would take care of her right away.
