Dear Reader

Our cover drawing this week is by someone well known to readers of The Christian Science Monitor—illustrator Shirley Horn. As you may have noticed, all the publications of The Christian Science Publishing Society, and all the other media activities, draw on the skills of the entire publishing family. Excerpts from shortwave broadcasts of The Herald of Christian Science are published in the Sentinel, for example. Sentinel "Profile" subjects, as well as authors of Sentinel testimonies and articles, may be interviewed on radio broadcasts of The Herald of Christian Science. Staff writers and editors of The Christian Science Monitor and World Monitor magazine sometimes show up in the pages of the religious periodicals.

Speaking of covers, readers have asked how we select our cover topics. Magazines today produce covers that are related to a key article or the theme of several articles. The cover is not meant to imply that every article in the issue is focused on this subject.

As you can see in this issue of the Sentinel, for example, the cover is tied to the lead article by Sam L. Hornbeak about some important spiritual lessons on the subject of brotherly love he learned from a street-corner preacher. You'll also find an article about Easter, a guest editorial about the experience of being parents who are Christian Scientists, and an editorial on the nature of true freedom.

Enjoy 1 free Sentinel article or audio program each month, including content from 1898 to today.
